Ski/Snowboard Staff - 2025 season
LOCATION:         Red Lodge Mountain Resort
WAGES/PAY:     $18 - $22 / hour based on experience and role
EXPERIENCE:      Some experience required
START DATE:      Flexible – as early as 11/18/2024 to mid-April

Eagle Mount Billings seeks individuals dedicated to making a daily difference for those with disabilities through our adaptive ski and snowboard program at Red Lodge Mountain Resort.  

We seek personable, competent individuals to facilitate safe winter sports experiences for youths and adults with disabilities, their families, and volunteers in a fun and inclusive learning environment. Successful candidates will be reliable, organized, and demonstrate a friendly, caring, professional demeanor. Join our team of adaptive enthusiasts and dedicated volunteers, train on the latest practices and equipment, and help those with disabilities SOAR into ADVENTURES with Eagle Mount.

Position Types: Seasonal full-time and part-time, schedules flexible. We need full-day and part–day help every day of the week - Sunday – Saturday. An occasional holiday may be required.

Skill level: Must be an intermediate skier or rider. Training on adaptive techniques and effective interactions are provided. Volunteer management experience is preferred.

Employment Contingencies: Background Check, interview, successful completion of on-snow training and demonstration of ski/ ride skills, safety, and customer service standards. May also need to drive Eagle Mount vehicles (must be 25 years of age, with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.)

Core Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the coordination of adaptive ski/board instruction by effectively engaging Eagle Mount volunteers.
  • Provide and coordinate ski/board instruction for youths and adults with disabilities – includes a variety of skill levels – utilizing adaptive techniques, strategies, and equipment as necessary.
  • Uphold most current safety/risk management protocols in a caring and fun environment for participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ensure participants are utilizing equipment and activities appropriate to their needs, following the latest in training techniques, in a safe and effective manner.
  • Complete required assessment and documentation after completion of lessons and coach volunteers to do the same.
  • Be a positive representative and ambassador of Eagle Mount Billings programs, events,  and activities.
  • Commit to continuing education in the adaptive field utilizing internal and external resources to ensure our programs promote growth, empowerment, and improvement.
  • Attend required continuing education and help coordinate and provide volunteer training.
  • Communicate clearly, productively, and respectfully with all participants, parents/families, volunteers, RLM staff and management, and co-workers.
  • Consistently uphold and demonstrate the core values of Eagle Mount Billings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced skiing/riding skills.
  • Must be skilled at working with people of all abilities and ages.
  • Must be able to coach and engage volunteers effectively.
  • Must deliver professional snow-sport instruction in a variety of weather conditions. 
  • Consistently able to create a safe and fun environment in the ski hut and on-snow. 
  • Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and provide concise, effective feedback.
  • Strong communication skills & timely response with correspondence.
  • Ability to be flexible, creative, and adaptable to situations and assignments.
  • Support program needs with solution-oriented initiative.
  • Must hold current CPR/1st Aid certification or be willing to secure.
  • Possess computer skills to update excel files, word docs, etc.
  • Able to consistently bend, twist, kneel, walk, and ski on uneven terrain, lift, carry, and load equipment (if applicable) that weighs 50 plus pounds.

Salary Description: $18 - $22 / hour based on experience and role. Positions range from 8 – 40 hours weekly. Overtime is allowed only with pre-approval of the director.
